This policy explains what data ToPaste handles, what stays on your device, when Apple services are used, and what information may be sent for website license verification.

Overview

ToPaste is a clipboard manager for macOS. It is designed so that clipboard history is stored locally on the user's Mac by default. Optional sync is provided through Apple's iCloud/CloudKit services, and purchase or activation flows may require limited verification data as described below.

What ToPaste does not do

  • ToPaste does not use advertising SDKs.
  • ToPaste does not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
  • ToPaste does not sell clipboard content or share clipboard content with third parties for marketing.

Clipboard history and local storage

Clipboard items such as text, images, links, and files are stored locally on the user's Mac by default. This local history is used so the app can display and reuse copied items.

Optional iCloud sync

If the user enables iCloud sync, clipboard history may be synced across the user's own Apple devices through Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. In that case, synced data is transmitted to and stored within the user's iCloud environment managed by Apple.

Trial management and iCloud identifier

ToPaste may use iCloud availability and an anonymous CloudKit user identifier to manage free trial eligibility and help prevent repeated trial abuse across the user's devices. This identifier is provided by Apple and is not used by ToPaste as a profile or advertising identifier.

Website license key activation and verification

If the user activates ToPaste with a website license key, the app sends limited information to https://api.topaste.com for verification. This may include:

  • The entered license key.
  • A device identifier derived from the Mac.
  • The anonymous iCloud user identifier used for verification and trial management.

Clipboard contents are not sent to the license verification server as part of activation or verification.

Mac App Store purchases

If the user purchases through the Mac App Store, billing and payment processing are handled by Apple. ToPaste does not receive the user's full payment card information.

Support communications

If a user contacts support by email, the developer will receive the information the user chooses to send, such as an email address, app version, macOS version, and a description of the issue.

Data retention

Local clipboard history remains on the user's Mac until it is deleted by the user or removed by app settings. Data synced through iCloud is subject to the user's iCloud account and Apple service behavior. License verification records may be retained for fraud prevention, license management, support, and security.

Children's privacy

ToPaste is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
